There are seven prominent determinants on
calculating the cost which are billable flight time, fuel surcharge, crew fees,
landing & handling and incidental fees, empty leg situation, FBO and
additional fees. Within all these, billable flight hours are the most important
one which is based on an hourly rate of the jet and the flight hours, and this
was followed by fuel surcharge because without any fuel the plane is useless –
so to say -. Fuel surcharge usually depends on the type of the aircraft,
distance flown and basically the cost of fuel. Next one is the crew fees that
covers per diem payments, hotel fees, meals etc., these are all changeable
values, landing &handling and incidental fees as well as FBO charges are
also changeable from aircraft to aircraft or in accordance with the airports in
destinations. The empty leg situation and
additional fees are also variables that are determinants on the costs of
private jets. Next time booking a private jet all these determinants and
variables should be kept in mind!
